My first thoughts were that it would have been an easy job, however I can see that its going to be fairly complex Im not pressured by time to be honest and having both cars is to my advantage. I may need a bit of help with the high level feeds once I get that far. I will have the Blaupunkt connector from my car and loom to also to use on the donor car. The donor vehicle is 2003 and mine is 2004 I have ElsaWin and very confident splicing and soldering with soldering I dont like splice connectors (scotch locks) seen them to often fail after time. I have not yet had a good look at the connectors to be honest, but I am aware they would probably require modifying using a terminal extraction tool which I have been looking to purchase I tried maplins at the weekend to no avail, If you can recommend one that would be great.
I dont think the Feeds to the Amp will be too much of a problem not really looked into the fuse board yet. My first concern was getting access to the loom and to see what needs to come out and what needs to stay. I have not yet had a good look at the connectors to be honest. Sunday night I managed to get the loom opened up but ran out of time so called it a day. Im not to familiar with how the Bose amp is powered and have not got as far as the fuse board yet. Hi Tom my car does have the blaupunkt amp with the rear speakers I read about the extra work in your thread so I can tick that one off. Whilst I'm always happy to provide help and assistance, you're about to enter a world of pain unless you really understand what you're doing. I've done this migration a few times for various members and I'm sure they'll confirm its complexity based solely on the amount of time it takes me to do it. Remember that the donor doesn't currently have a high-level feed from the back of the head unit to the doors. You'll need to extract pins from the chunky brown connector at the back of your car's head unit and use them in the donor vehicle. Have you got the ElsaWIN wiring diagrams? How experienced are you at splicing and soldering? Is the donor vehicle 2002 or later? If not, you've got other serious problems.Īdding a standard stereo to a car that once had Bose is also a more complex task than you'd first think. You'll therefore definitely need terminal extraction tools to complete the removal and reinstallation of Bose, as you need to separate the line-level wires from the CAN wires. The miniISO connector at the back of the head unit that hosts the pins to carry the line-level signal to the Bose amp also hosts the CAN bus wires. Are you comfortable with the fuse board layout as seen from behind? If it does have rear speakers and the Blaupunkt amp, then you've got a different challenge in migrating the wiring layouts.Īre you familiar with how the Bose amp is powered? It uses two 12V feeds, one of which is ignition-switched. Does you car (the recipient of Bose) currently have rear speakers, including the small Blaupunkt amp? If not, your job is further complicated by a lack of wiring to the B-pillar and in the rear doors.
